Online Results with Search, Social and eMail Marketing.

Another great event in San Francisco: the Power of eMarketing Event by eMarketing Association. Iceland (or more specific, the volcano on island) made it impossible for the other exhibitors to join the conference. We were the only exhibitor there (now there's a new experience). Anyway, it was a good event with good content, speakers, and attendees, including speakers from LinkedIn, Facebook, eBay, TechnoRati and EarthboundMediaGroup. The main topics of the conference were:
- Search Marketing
- Social Marketing
- eMail Marketing
- Emerging Marketing Technology
Again, Social Media and e-Mail were the topics most attendees could relate to, and especially how to use them to get better online results (without investing a lot of resources). Some insights were shared on this conference:
"If facebook was a country it would be number four, if eMail was a country..." how does email compare to a country? I don't know. Anyway, the overall message was that everybody still uses e-mail, use it to contact your customers and get them to your website.
There are a lot of (free and commercial) social media monitoring tools, including tweetbeep, Twilert, Backtype, Cocomment, Yacktrack and Codetweet. But the main challenge the attendees were facing is how to turn reports into actionable results. They don't have the time or resources to actively monitor all social media or analyze reports.
Damien Navarro from Earthbound Media Group gave an excellent presentation on Social Media Intelligence: Listening, Measuring, Adapting & Engaging. His presentation and examples are actually in line with what we define in our solution on Visitor Conversion Management.
My take-away I learned at this conference: bring an iPad the upcoming events. It really attracts people.
